
Lagos State University of Science and Technology (Lasustech) management dismissed three lecturers over allegations from S3xual Harassment.
The affected lecturers were Mr. Nurudeen Hassan of the Department of Mass Communication, Mr. Kareem Arigbabu and Mr. Olayinka Uthman from the Department of Art and Design.
In the title memo Staff revoked due to S3xual Harassment chargesthe institution revealed that the decision was reached after deliberations by the University Council under Section 5.5.2(v) of the conditions for service of senior staff of the University.
“The Lagos State University of Science and Technology (Lasustech) has taken decisive action to respond to allegations of S3xual harassment involving three staff members. After a thorough investigation and deliberation, the Council approved the firing.”
It continued: “This decision is effective immediately and meets Article 5.5.2(v) of the conditions for service of senior staff at the University.”
The memorandum also reiterates Lasustech’s commitment to curbing S3xual misconduct and says: “The University takes allegations of S3xual Harassment seriously because they compromise the institution’s image and undermine the academic environment. The decision of the Management Council reflects the University’s commitment to maintain a safe and respectful campus community.”
Olanrewaju Kuye, a public relations officer at the agency, confirmed the development, “Yes, the three of them were fired. The Management Council followed all procedures. We gave them an inquiry before being fired.”
