A 20-year-old suspect, Usman Sagiru of Sharifai quarter, was arrested by the Kano State Police Command, whose fatal attack in connection with the accompanying attack of Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II was arrested from the prayer field of Eid.
The attack took place on Sunday, March 30 as believers spread from the Eid prayer field.
According to police, Sagiru and other currently widespread suspects allegedly stabbed Surajo Rabiu, a Vigilante member from the Sabon Titi Jaba neighborhood.
The rabbi later succumbed to his injuries. Another alert member, Aminu Suleman from Kofar Mata district, was injured and was treated at the Murtala Mohammed Expert Hospital.
Authorities have conducted a comprehensive investigation into the attack and have invited Shamakin Kano, Alhaji Wada Isyaku to inquire.
The Kano State Police Department reiterated the strict ban on all forms of Duba celebrations and warned violators of the law to face legal consequences.
It also reiterates its zero-tolerance policy for Thuggery (DABA) and any behavior that may disrupt public order.
“We urge the public to remain calm and cooperate with the police as we work to ensure peace and security in Kano State,” the statement said.
