
Security agents rescued a 400-level student, Birnin Kebbi, Augustine Madubiya, who is Kidnapped From an off-campus hotel.
The student was rescued by police in the Dakiri Forest area of Sulu Local Government Area after tracking and delaying the kidnapper.
Abdulrahman Zagga, Director of Security at the Cabinet Office, disclosed this on Thursday, April 10, 2025.
Zagga further confirmed that the student is currently undergoing a doctor’s examination for preventive measures.
Kebbi State Deputy Governor, Senator Umar Tafida, along with Police Chief Sani Bello and the University Vice President, Professor Zaiyan Muhammad visited the off-campus hotel where the kidnapping took place.
In announcing the rescue, the lieutenant governor reiterated the state’s commitment to the safety of students in all tertiary institutions in Kebbi. He revealed that the rescued student had been taken to the hospital for a physical examination.
Police Commissioner Sani Bello gave further details, saying the student was abandoned by the kidnappers after ongoing police pressure.
He also confirmed that there was no ransom.
