Senator Natasha Akpoti-uduaghan filed a lawsuit against Senate President Godswill Akpabio, accusing him of making defamatory statements against her.
The lawsuit was filed in the Federal Capital High Court on February 25, 2025, listing Akpabio, the Federal Republic of Nigeria and senior legislative aide, with Senate President Mfon Patrick as the defendant.
According to the lawsuit marked CV/737/25, Akpoti-uduaghan’s attorney Victor Giwa claimed that Akpabio made a defamatory statement to his client, which was posted on Facebook by his assistant Mfon Patrick.

Akpoti-Uduaghan is seeking a permanent ban to limit further defamatory statements from Akpabio and colleagues on any platform.
She also asked the court to order Akpabio to include 300 million nm in litigation costs for general damages.
