Senator Natasha was suspended for serious misconduct, not for her sexual harassment request for Akpabio Senate

The Nigerian Senate has responded to Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s complaint against the UN International Parliament Conference in New York.

Natasha was held on Tuesday, March 11, calling on parliament to help her. According to her, the Senate accused sexu@lly of harassing her and she was suspended for six months.

In a letter signed by Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, the Senate rejected her claim. The letter was read by the Chair of the House Committee on Women’s Affairs and Social Development, the esteemed Kafilat Ogbara, who is attending the event in his official capacity representing Nigeria.

    Read the Senate letter part

“Senator Natasha Akpoti Uduahan was suspended for serious misconduct and unruly conduct, not for allegations of sexual harassment or ass @ult. The power of the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria firmly refuted the intentional misunderstanding and false narratives circulated by certain media organizations regarding the sixth month of Natsaha-Akpoti-uduaghan.

Unambiguously, Uduaghan was suspended only for her ongoing misconduct, ignoring the regular orders of the Senate. ”

However, Ogbara called for a thorough investigation into Senator Natasha’s targeting Senator Godswill Akpabio. She insisted that the procedures and necessary actions were taken in the Senate rules before Senator Natasha was suspended.

Last week, the Senate suspended lawmakers, a move that continued to spark debate nationwide.

She initially filed a petition to the Senate accusing Akpabio of sexual harassment. However, lawmakers threw it away and then paused it after submitting another petition.

Senator Natasha vowed to continue to fight “injustice.” But after the suspension, Akpabio denied the charges and insisted that he had never beaten a woman.

Her dispute with the Senate president began on February 20, 2025, and her seat changed during the plenary session.
