According to recent data, Nigeria has become the third highest African country in the United States between 2020 and 2025.
In five years, a total of 437 Nigerian citizens were deported from the U.S., according to data from the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and cited by Vanguard.
At the top of the list is Senegal, ranked first, followed by Mauritania.
Many deported people were deported due to criminal convictions or immigration judges issued final dismissal orders against them.
ICE officials operating under Title 8 of the United States Code authorized by the Law Enforcement and Demolition Action (ERO) department to detain and expel non-citizens who have received a final dismissal order.
