Senator Ned Nwoko, the estranged husband of Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, has claimed that she has no incriminating evidence against him.
The lawmaker representing the Delta North Senatorial District announced this in a statement released on Monday through its Communications and Technology Action Team.
Nwoko said some people who had allegedly targeted him over the years were now taking advantage of the current situation to tarnish his image before the international community.
He said:
“Besides this, the suggestion that I was grabbing land in my hometown is false and unfortunate. The fact is that I was allotted a piece of land for which I made sincere payments to establish the Sports University, a project that exists today and serves the community.
“Unfortunately, anyone who seeks advancement in our society is often attacked and torn down by their own people. This is the sad difference between us and other ethnic groups.
“The facts are there. Those who took advantage of her current situation to settle old scores, knowing they had no case against me, will finally face justice.
“They must also be careful about any defamatory statements they continue to make as they will be required to prove them.
“If she has not made any credible accusations against me so far, that means I am not doing anything illegal except that I want her to seek help for rehab, which has been going on since before we were married.”
The senator also claimed Regina had a record of drug use, which he said could be verified through medical documentation and proven in court.
