British TV tycoon Simon Cowell is no stranger to unusual fan encounters, but a special moment is the weirdest.
He opened up the weirdest fan request he received when he appeared in How to Fail Podcast with Elizabeth Day. According to Cowell, the encounter took place at a restaurant when a seemingly ordinary fan interaction took a shocking turn.
“Once, it was a true story – I was in a restaurant and the guy came to me and said, ‘I love your show’,” Cowell recalled. “He asked for a photo and introduced me to his wife. Then, he was completely blue and he said, ‘Will you judge us to have sex?'”
At first, Cowell thought the man was joking. But the couple was serious and even willing to pay him.
He said, “I went, ‘Are you hitting me?'” “They said, ‘No, we’ll pay you.’ So I asked, “Okay, how much?” “In fact, it’s a lot of money – I’ve been thinking about $150,000 for the time being, but I can’t do it.”
Despite his shock, Kaul said he found the interactions strange.
“I’m actually shy,” he admitted. “I can’t do a pre-party. It’s the worst to have a chat with people I don’t know. But when someone shows up and starts talking about something I like (like a show or an artist), it makes things easier.”
Cowell also shared that fame helped him cope with social anxiety. “This gives you something to talk about directly,” he explained. “It helps break the ice.”
Of course, some fans demand more familiar areas. “People used to ask me to be rude to them, especially in the United States,” he added. His reputation began as a straightforward, unconscious judge since his age of American idols.
