
American singer Chris Brown was arrested early Thursday morning at a Manchester hotel for allegedly attacking a music producer at a London nightclub two years ago.
The 36-year-old singer was supposed to start a world tour within three weeks but was detained by Metropolitan Police, who tracked him down at the Lowry Hotel in Salford after he arrived at the city by private jet.
Brown was arrested for suspected serious bodily injury.
The Metropolis tells independent: “A 36-year-old man was arrested shortly after 2 a.m. on Thursday, May 15 at a hotel in Manchester for suspected serious bodily injury.
“He was detained where he left. The arrest was linked to a site incident in Hannover Square on February 19, 2023. The investigation was led by detectives from the Basic Command of the Midwest.”
Brown is accused by producer Abraham Diaw of assault on Mayfair’s Tape Nightclub Sunday’s sun: “He hit me two or three times. My knees fell down, too.”
DIAW has compensated Brown for damages of $16 million (£12 million) in civil litigation, resulting in injuries and losses caused by the alleged incident.
Brown plans to embark on the Light Bowl XX tour and is scheduled to be held next month at Manchester’s co-op Live.
The most famous tracks by R&B artists include “Run It!” and “Gimme” made headlines in 2009 for beating his girlfriend Rihanna.
He pleaded guilty to the felony assault and accepted a plea agreement, five years of probation and domestic violence counseling.
