Miley Cyrus opened to the 2018 Woolsey Fire, destroying her $2.525 billion Malibu home, which she shared with her ex-husband, Liam Hemsworth.
Instead of living in the loss, the American singer saw the incident as a turning point that made her clear and grateful.
She shared that losing her home symbolized a breakdown of important relationships, including her marriage to Hemsworth, but led to her “magic and gratitude.”
“When my house is burned down, that’s the greatest blessing of my life,” the 32-year-old pop star said in a question and answer Tuesday.
‘Lost everything, be able to rebuild, and be able to purposefully choose every piece I want to collect, or choose the people of my life.
“And I think for me, when my house was burned down, a lot of my relationships were burned down, which made me so magical and gained so much gratitude.”
Cyrus noted that on the Manhattan stage, “I think I’ll tell my young self is to appreciate those dark times because, like I said, they just lead you into the light.”
Liam and Miley confirmed their split in August 2019 and completed their divorce in January 2020 less than a year after they got married.
The On/Off couple first started dating after meeting on the previous song and first got engaged in May 2012.
However, they broke up before reuniting in September 2013 in 2016 and ended in December 2018, then made the benefit eight months later.
Meanwhile, Liam has remained strong with his girlfriend, Australian model Gabriella Brooks since 2019.
