The upper court in Ilorin, Kwara State has awarded the singer $1 million on portable bail.
The controversial singer was arraigned in court today on April 14 for criminal defamation, intimidation, inciting public harassment and cyberstalking. The petition of his senior colleague, Okunola Saheed (aka Osupa), is suspected of defamating character and threats to life.
Osupa accused Portable of abusing him by making live videos, adding that the defendant (portable) claimed that he had removed his music from Apple Music and Spotify, putting his image in trouble.
Police prosecutor Abubakar Issa urged the court to carry portable in the correctional facility until a police investigation was conducted.
Portable attorney, Barr. However, Adebayo Issac urged the court to discount the prosecutor’s proposal, saying police detain the defendants until their investigation is completed.
He told the court that police granted his client administrative bail Sunday and insisted that the portable character was a public figure with a traceable address that would give himself a trial if released on bail.
Adebayo said he presupposes the statement that Articles 172(1) and 165 of the criminal justice system governing, adding that a critical assessment of the legal part could guide the court to recognize bail.
Chairman Judge. On Sunday, Adeniyi admitted to bail of 1 million guilds in his brief ruling, one of whom must serve as president of the Nigerian Performing Musicians Association (PMAN).
He then adjourned the matter until April 30, 2025.
