Singer Sean Kingston and mother are guilty of fraud

Sean Kingston is a famous singer for “Beautiful Girls” whose mother, Janice Turner, was convicted of fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud at a federal trial.

The 35-year-old singer, whose legal name is Kisean Anderson, was arrested while Turner was detained and arrested by electronic surveillance. The singer also has to sell a margin for a home worth $500,000 and $200,000 in cash in NBC6 South Florida. Their sentencing is scheduled to take place on July 11.

The trial begins on Monday, March 24 and the debate ends on Friday, March 28. The jury made a decision after three and a half hours of deliberations based on NBC6.

Kingston did not testify during the trial, and his mother was convicted of defrauding several businesses, including multiple jewelers, a TV installment company and a high-end car dealer. Prosecutors said the two received more than $1 million in total.

The judge believed Turner was a flight risk, partly because she did testify based on Local10. In the video, published media, Kingston can be heard telling us that Agent Marshall “protects my mother” because he was accompanied by the court.

During the trial, Fort Lauderdale-based jeweler Moshe Edery testified that he lost his credibility after transferring a $285,000 transfer from Kingston on Thursday, March 27.

“I’ve been cheated,” Adry said in the stands.

The two were arrested in May 2024 and appeared in court for the first time in July. Each of them was charged with one conspiracy to commit wire fraud and five counts of wire fraud. According to the indictment, Turner usually ensures delivery and wire transfers, but simply sends fraudulent transfers. The plan lasted for several years.

During the trial, the defense argued that there was no evidence that Turner and Kingston intended to commit fraud, and said that under NBC6, some of the alleged victims obtained their money and goods.

Born in Miami, the singer grew up in Jamaica and was first internationally known for his 2007 hit song “Beautiful Girls”. Throughout the 2010s, his breakthrough continued, including a collaboration with Justin Bieber and a life-long appearance in the Disney Channel Show Suite suite on the deck.
