But, just two days later, Braxton filed for divorce.
Court documents obtained by TMZ reveal the wedding date as part of her divorce petition filed on August 10, 2024. In the document, Braxton and her legal team described the marriage as a “shocking marriage,” which raised eyebrows that could have problems following the union.
This story takes another unexpected turn. Despite the start of the divorce lawsuit, Braxton then withdrew from the petition in January 2025. Birdman also agreed to the firing, which means the couple is still legally married so far. However, whether they are still together in any meaningful sense is unclear.
The two artists have not yet publicly responded to the revelation. Repeated efforts to contact them, or their representatives have been silent so far.
Birdman, co-founder of Cash Currency Records, first proposed to Braxton in February 2018. He reportedly bought the singer a luxury $1 million engagement ring, along with other luxurious gifts, including high-end watches and vintage earrings. Despite their engagement, the couple announced their public breakup in 2019, and since then, Braxton has regularly downplayed any conversations about reigniting the romance.
In December 2023, Braxton went to social media, refuting new rumors about the status of his relationship, tagging speculations like “#fakenews” and insisting that they were just friends.
Until now. With the newly discovered wedding and near-marriage divorce filings, it is clear that the couple’s relationship is much more complicated than previous romantic relationships.
