Senate President Godswill Akpabio has asked former Labor presidential candidate Peter Obi to resolve the internal crisis of his party before considering becoming president.
Akpabio was accusing Obi of claiming that the labor of the heroes of Nigeria’s past is currently in vain.
Recall that on Wednesday, May 7, in a commemorative speech to commemorate the late Niger Delta leader Edwin Clarke, Obi said the status of the country shows that the labor of our past heroes is now futile.
The former Anambra governor questioned the silence of those protesting against the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan. He asked if they were DE@D now, saying Jonathan increased the fuel from N87 to N120 and protested when the N900 was exchanged for one dollar.
“For someone like me who just participated in the 2023 election, he lived a life of courage, a life of sacrifice, a life of justice, a life of value. But most importantly, he continued to live until the end. So why shouldn’t we say that (the heroes of the past) be in vain?
When you talk about “May the labor of our past heroes not be in vain” I listened to my brother Mike. I’m glad Jonathan is here. But I can tell you that their sacrifice was futile.
They have nothing. We protest in this country when people protest under Goodluck Jonathan. Where are those protesters? Are they dead? where are they?
So, why shouldn’t we say that this (the heroic labor of the past) be futile? Jonathan increased fuel from N87 to N120, and people protested in the country. When it was the N900, they did not protest.
Again, why shouldn’t we say that (the past heroic labor) be futile? Two days ago, UNICEF announced that Nigeria now has more than 2 million malnourished children, the second highest child in the world. Are they selling in Nigeria? That’s just reality. Their labor was futile.
Now, we have a country that is not a democratic country. We are not a democratic country, let us tell ourselves the truth. Are they democratic in the elections that took place in Edo? Everyone knows who won that generation. So why should we keep it and say that their work is not futile?
This is in vain. So we can now start picking these pieces because they have destroyed everything people sacrificed for. ”
However, Akpabio said in his reaction to Obi that Clark’s labor cannot be said to be futile. He suggested that Obi first address internal issues in his “small political parties” before he targets Nigeria’s president.
‘”If you can’t solve the crisis of Labor, how do you solve the crisis of Boko Haram or other major national issues?
I urge those who are eager to lead Nigeria to solve problems within their own political parties first. I can proudly talk about my dual access to the city, international hospitals and digital governor’s office.
I also began a free and compulsory education and pilgrimage to Rome and Jerusalem by sponsoring pilgrimage to over 5,800 Muslims and 12,000 to 15,000 Christians. ”
