South African police said on Saturday, May 10 that Timothy Omotosho, a Nigerian TV broadcaster in the Nigerian TV series, was recently acquitted by multiple R@PE charges.
Timothy Omotoso was released in April 2025, nine years after he was sentenced to prison for R@ping and s£X£XARMAILE assaulting several young women at his church.
The judge found that although the pastor’s explanation seemed impossible, he was acquitted, but the state prosecutor mistook his case.
Police Chief Fannie Masemola told reporters that after being acquitted, immigration authorities and police arrested Omotoso on Saturday morning in East London town.
“He will face charges related to violations of the Immigration Act, and he will appear in court on Monday,” he said.
A 66-year-old pastor at the Jesus International (JDI) church in South Africa was arrested in 2017 on 32 charges, including R@pe, s£xual exploitation and human trafficking.
Several young women were still in school at the time and testified that they were selected by Omotoso, who would pray for forgiveness after each encounter with them.
In April, Eastern Cape High Court judge Irma Schoeman criticized the handling of the case, saying the state did not prove that it had no doubt about its case against Omotoso and the two aides, and they also faced charges.
