Kim Soo Hyun’s troubled South Korean actor talks in person about the growing scandal about the nature of his relationship with the late actress Kim Sae-Ron, a legend that shocked the country’s entertainment industry.
Kim Soo Hyun, 37, said in a press conference on Monday, March 31 that the YouTube channel said in a March charge that he had a romantic relationship with his companion when his performers were not yet his minor. He repeatedly denied the allegations.
“I didn’t date her when I was a minor,” Kim said at an emotional press conference, refusing to ask questions. “Apart from us being both actors, we are ordinary couples like anyone else. We have feelings for each other and over time we end up parting ways. After that, we rarely stay in touch.”
After the press conference, the actor and his agent’s gold medalist attorney announced lawsuits against multiple parties, including YouTube channel and Kim Sae-Ron’s family, accusing them of defamation and breach of information protection.
Kim Sae-Ron discovered D3AD in February at her 24-year-old home, a conviction for drunk driving after she retreated from the public eye, prompting strong public opposition and reputational loss.
The YouTube channel is known for reporting political news, despite denied the Kim Soo Hyun online fire.

Chosun Ilbo, one of the Korean newspapers, said his talent agency had previously said that although the two actors had been in a romantic relationship, it happened in adult situations.
Kim Soo Hyun also claimed that many of the text messages allegedly distributed online between him and Kim Sae-Ron were wrong.
The actor’s reputation was lost quickly, with luxury fashion house Prada and popular Korean cosmetics brand Dinto both ending their partnership with Kim Soo Hyun within weeks of the scandal breaking down.
Kim Soo Hyun is known for his award-winning series “Nothing” and “My Love Love”.
He also apologized on Monday for keeping quiet when allegations of the relationship appeared last year, saying he was concerned about the consequences of his recently aired Netflix series, “The Queen of Tears.”
He said: “If you want to criticize me for being timid or selfish, I will accept it.”
Kim Sae-Ron, the woman of the deceased, is a prolific actor who shot at stars as a kid, but her career has stalled after a car crash in the South Korean capital in 2022. In April 2023, a Seoul court found her guilty driving under influence. She avoided prison but was fined about $14,000.
There was no sign of a foul and officials were investigating her death.
