British racing driver Lewis Hamilton wore a custom ivory suit from Grace Wales Bonner to add color to the 2025 Met Gala Red Carpet with matching berets and vintage jewelry.
As co-chair of the event, the theme was “Super Elf: Cut Black Style”, Hamilton’s costume pays tribute to the Black Cultural Heritage.
The band features symbolic elements such as Cowrie Shells and Pearl of Pearl buttons that reflect his African roots.
Formula One star worked closely with designer Grace Wales Bonner and designer Eric McNeal to create this meaningful look.
Hamilton expressed his honor in co-hosting the event in an interview and emphasized the importance of representing black designers and culture on such a well-known platform. He recalls the journey from buying tables to supporting black designers, and now works directly with Anna Wintour to shape the future of the party.
