Stop playing God - Pastor Tunde Bakare tells Tinubu

Rev. Tunde Bakare, the overseer of Citadel Global Community Church (CGCC), has issued a harsh warning to President Bola Tinubu not to “play God” and assert that the current government is evacuating the country.

Bakare delivered a national speech at the church auditorium in Ikeja, Lagos on Sunday, April 20, calling for a more modest and reflective governance approach.

In his speech, Baccaré urged the president to reassess his leadership style and be responsible for growing dissatisfaction across the country. “Stop playing God,” he said explicitly, adding that he did not want his own failure when he disagrees with Tinubu’s approach. “The current government is turning to political drifting,” he added, calling on the government to “embrace humility.”

Baccarre clarifies the intention behind his remarks, saying his message is not a condemnation, but a call for action aimed at redirecting leadership to a more constructive path. He expressed concern about the weakening of the democratic system under Tinubu, especially the legislature.

Bakar also criticized the National Assembly for its recent moratorium on Senator Natasha Akputti Udoagen, which shows that it is a punitive measure to her call for transparency and accountability. He challenged Senate President Godswill Akpabio to provide a clear explanation for the move and reaffirmed the chamber’s commitment to democratic principles.
