An undetermined disease has reportedly claimed the lives of five students at Kebi State University of Science and Technology in Ksusta.
Some students at the university spoke with channel television on anonymous condition and they revealed that four students were mysteriously living last week, while another died after spending the night on Sunday, March 16.
One source explained that World Health Organization (WHO) officials visited the university last week for a publicity campaign about the dangers of meningitis.
However, they did not confirm whether meningitis was responsible for the deaths of two students who died before the visit.
According to the university’s records, the university’s registered secretary Mamaru Alhaji Tilli confirmed the D3ATH of four students.
“Yes, according to our records, there are four students who have already d!ed, but we don’t know why. The Ministry of Health warned us that they recommend the need to reduce the accommodation for students.”
Tilli added that he had formally written to Isah Abubakar Tunga, Commissioner of Higher Education, seeking guidance on measures to curb death.
A student leader also confirmed D3ATHS and revealed that the Student Union Government (SUG) has written to university management urging them to close the institution to prevent casualties.
