Tyler Perry, a well-known filmmaker and billionaire media icon, finds himself at the center of a major legal battle. Derek Dixon, an actor in Perry’s TV series The Oval and clussless, filed a $260 million lawsuit against Perry for sexual harassment, assault and professional revenge.
According to legal documents obtained by Good Morning America, Dickson claims that the alleged harassment began shortly after the first meeting in 2019.
Perry’s actions escalated from “strange and undisguised information” to the alleged attack in January 2020, the lawsuit said. After that, Dixon said he acted as an agent in the oval.
Dixon claims that the emotional loss experienced left him prescription of antidepressants. He also claimed that he felt incompetent to speak out because of Perry’s strong influence in the entertainment industry.
The court’s statement:
“Since then, Dixon has been worried that he has been losing his job if he doesn’t interact and endures Perry’s sexual harassment.”
Dixon later moved to Santa Monica, California, which he described as an effort to heal mentally and physically from the incident.
Tyler Perry’s attorney Matthew Boyd quickly responded strongly to the claim. As Yahoo News reported, Boyd described the lawsuit as a baseless attempt to blackmail Perry.
He said:
“This is someone close to Tyler Perry because it seems like it’s more than just setting up a scam right now.
Boyd stressed that Perry was ready to make full charges in court.
The lawsuit surfaced a few weeks before Perry’s latest Madea installment payments, Madea’s destination wedding, scheduled to be released on July 11. Meanwhile, his Netflix film Netflix Film Straw plays stars Taraji P. Henson and Teyana Taylor, which has recently attracted widespread attention around the world.
