Nigeria’s Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), its outstanding figure, Sukoto’s Sultan, Al. Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar announced that fasting in Nigeria may continue on Sunday, March 30, 2025, as there is no view of the end of Ramadan moon.
The NSCIA announced the news in a statement signed by Secretary-General Professor Is-Haq Oloyede, stressing that Muslims across the country should look for a new moon in Shawwal.
The statement stated that the statement about Eid al-Fitr will be issued based on the sights on the moon.
NSCIA’s statement has been read, “Muslims are hereby asked to look for the crescent shape of Shoval in the 29th edition of Ramadan. If Muslims view the crescent according to the moon’s vision and verification standards, then his outstanding figures will be announced on Sunday, March 30, 2025, which is the number one in Shoval and number one in Shoval.”
The announcement shows that the official end of Ramadan and the start of the celebration of Eid in Nigeria depend on the moon where the new moon was discovered and has not been confirmed by local authorities.
Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia reports confirm Shawwal, who discovered the crescent moon, marking the official end of Ramadan in the Kingdom.
Saudi Arabia authorities announced that Eid-el-Fitr will be celebrated on Sunday, March 30, 2025. After Maghrib’s prayer, the Moon Vision Commission in Saudi Arabia was summoned and witnessed the new moon, indicating that the end of Ramadan 29 days after Ramadan.
