On Monday, March 24, the United Nations Joint HIV/AIDS Program said the sudden cessation of U.S. foreign aid funding has been devastating.
In a statement, UNAIDS executive director Winnie Byanyima said the point warned that if there is no more funding, millions will die and the global AIDS pandemic will resume.
Historically, the United States has been the world’s largest donor of humanitarian aid, but since returning to the White House on January 20, U.S. President Donald Trump has cut international aid.
“It is reasonable for the United States to reduce it
Over time, but the sudden retreat of life-saving support is a devastating effect. We urge reconsideration and emergency recovery services to save lives. ” A reporter from Byanyima in Geneva, the capital of Switzerland, said.

According to her, without further funding, there will be another 6.3 million AIDS-related deaths in the next four years.
She explained that in the last charge, about 600,000 AIDS-related deaths were registered worldwide in 2023, adding that the agency is expected to see another 8.7 million new infections.
“So, you’re talking about the growth of 10 times. You’re talking about losing the benefits we’ve made in the last 25 years. It’s very serious,” she added.
