The U.S. State Department revealed that local systems interrupt the challenges facing Nigerians for applying for U.S. visas.
According to a press official with the Office of Public and Congressional Affairs of the U.S. State Department of State’s Department of Public and Congressional Affairs, the power outage has since resumed and normal circumstances have resumed into consular action.
“The U.S. State Department has experienced some system disruption and has since resumed. All consular actions have returned to normal. Interviews to which visa applicants will be notified must be rescheduled.

It received reports of failures faced by Nigerian visa applicants, who lamented that the U.S. Embassy failed to interview appointments for appointments as part of the visa application process.
Last year, the U.S. mission in Nigeria has begun transitioning to a new visa appointment system designed to make applicants easier and more transparent.
However, during the implementation of the new system, Nigerians applying for visas face challenges, and the U.S. government ensures improved visa processing after the transition period.
FG’s 48-hour visa processing schedule for foreigners
The federal government of Nigeria has announced plans to process visas for foreigners within 48 hours.
Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-ojo disclosed this while announcing the opening training of E-VISA for 162 immigration officials in Abuja.
