
A tenant identified as Musa Alhassan allegedly beat his landlord Samson Bako, Peggy at the Federal Capital Regional Council of Kuye Regional Commission (FCT) House rent in the community (FCT).
Ishaku Ayuba, a resident of the area, talked to Daily Trust that the incident happened after the landlord locked the man’s room to refuse to pay the rent.
He said the man, who was a commercial driver and rented a one-bedroom in the area, had been owing his landlord a year’s rent and he refused to pay.
He said one of the landlords’ sons had been in charge of rent in the House of Representatives and had approached the man several times to pay the rent, but he refused.
“The man is a commercial driver who has lived in the compound for three years. He has refused to pay the landlord since the rent expired last year,” he said.
He said the landlord got angry when the tenant insulted his son.
“When the tenant goes to work, the landlord locks the room with another padlock.
“That was when he came back from get off work on Thursday night and found his room locked and when he asked other tenants, he was told that it was the landlord who locked his room.
“The tenant walked straight, trying to slap the landlord’s son. In the process, the landlord came out, leading to a serious quarrel and the tenant attacked the landlord. ”
Ayuba said some alert people in the area were immediately reminded that they came to intervene and later drove away tenants.
A member of the Night Watch, simply identified as Joshua, confirmed the incident, saying the tenant had been handed over to security personnel in the area.
