Teftel is a 12-month innovation and venture development program supported by TETFund. it combines Research commercialization, product development and entrepreneurship traininghelping participants transform research ideas into scalable products and startups.
Selected research teams will be guided on a structured journey including:
- Technology and prototype development
- business and entrepreneurship
- Intellectual Property and Patent Awareness
- Market validation and investor engagement
The program targets novel solutions within approved focus areas and supports Concept or early stage development stage.
Who can apply for TETFAIR?
TETFAIR OPEN TO academic staff and researchers from TETFund listed beneficiary institutions In Nigeria.
Eligibility criteria
In order to qualify for the program, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Applicants must apply as a team of 2 to 4 researchers or academic staff
- Team members must be from Nigerian universities that are TETFund beneficiary institutions
- Proposed ideas must fall within TETFAIR approved focus areas
- The Office of the Vice Chancellor must endorse the application by signing a formal endorsement form
- The idea should be in the idea stage or early development stage
- Ideally, innovation should include hardware or physical components (not purely digital components)
Recommended team composition
TETFAIR strongly encourages multidisciplinary teams with complementary skillsets able to take ideas from concept to market.
An ideal team should include:
- Members with original innovative ideas and relevant technical or academic expertise
- Members with complementary technical skills (engineering, medical, scientific, mechanical or related fields, depending on focus area)
- Members with business, financial or entrepreneurial skills or strong business inclinations
This balanced structure increases the chances of successfully developing prototypes and commercializing innovations.
