A 21-year-old woman arrested for kidnapping a two-week-old baby My love is love, Durban in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.
According to the police The suspect was waiting in line at a local clinic on Thursday, April 24, 2025 to become friends with the child’s mother, Bongiwe Sindani.
The suspect visited Bongiway at her home in Ensinbini on Sunday, May 4, 2025 and fled the child and cell phone after she walked out to discard a bucket of water.
Mother has the least information about visitors. She conducted extensive searches with the assistance of the community but was unsuccessful when she found the baby.
Members of the South African Response Department (RUSA) tracked and arrested the suspect near the Westville Pavilion shopping center in KZN on Monday, May 5.
“Last night (Sunday 22:00), the Rusa Operations Center received a call from Bongiwe Sidane to report the kidnapping of her baby. The respondents distributed the missing child and received a discount of thirty-four (34) tips and resulted in arrest and recovery within 11 hours (11) hours.”
“Officers followed up on the tips of the public in the Cape Town Petromaritzburg KZN – Western Cape and Johannesburg – Gauteng. Reports about women returning home with babies were received suspiciously throughout the evening.
“In the early hours of this morning, the response officer narrowed the search area to Chesterville in KwaZulu Natal. Believing that the female suspect possessed the kidnapped baby and planned to escape from the KZN province, the response officer blocked all entry/exit and kept all observations while Rusa Helicopter searched for a vague location.
“A woman was found to be suspicious with a newborn baby. When the police stopped her, it was determined that the child she had was a baby.
“The woman was arrested and must be evacuated from the area after the mob threatened to kill her. She was detained by FCS SAPS CATO MANOR and was directly identified by the mother as the woman who kidnapped the baby.
“When the Responsive Officer interviewed the woman, she confirmed that she had kidnapped the child after suffering an abortion on April 24, 2025.
“Then she met Bongiwe Sindane at a local clinic and had a plan to kidnap the baby so her boyfriend wouldn’t abandon her.
“After the kidnapping, she visited her boyfriend – KZN in Chesterville and convinced him that he was his child.
