
Mother and daughter from Brazil undergo a gender transition and become father and son.
Raphael, 38, and Gustavo Batista, 10, from São Paulo, Brazil, were born with female biological characteristics, but are now considered male.
Raphael, 38, stopped identifying as a woman last year and was asked to be called a male. In September 2024, Raphael posted a clip on Instagram where he discussed gender identity.

Father and son have previously said that people who use the “dead name” oppose people – when they are identified as women, their names are named.

Gustavo received gender identity and sexual orientation from the Institute of Psychiatry at the interdisciplinary outpatient clinic and at the College of Pediatric Endocrinology at the Das Clinicas Children’s Institute in Sao Paulo.
