The 4-year-old orphan is allegedly burnt by his uncle for dancing at the naming ceremony in Nasalava

A four-year-old orphan, Ukasha, was allegedly burned by his uncle and guardian Mai-Naira Abdullahi, in Rafia, the capital of Nasarawa.

The event stood out in the kitchen in the second phase area of Tudun Amba, Lafia on Saturday, April 12, 2025.

Rights advocacy group, people who oppose the R3PE Foundation (MARF), in a statement Thursday Condemn the cruel attacks of minors.

According to the foundation, Little Ukasha was danced by Abdullahi along with other children and women at a nearby naming ceremony.

The uncle allegedly offended the boy’s involvement by the boy’s involvement, which caused the child to suffer a savage assault, causing him to have deep cuts on his back, sides, face and stomach.

Witnesses described the scene as painful, saying the wound remained fresh and visible two days after the incident.

In a statement signed by its executive director Dr. Lemmy Ughegbe and Director of Strategic Development Augustine Eigbe, the foundation described the attack as “an act related to attempted murder” that seriously violated the child’s fundamental rights.

“This is not an isolated case. In February this year alone, it was reported that a student at a well-known Islamic school in Rafia was whipped to death, but the incident was buried and there was no justice.”

The group called on Governor Abdullahi Sule to intervene immediately, urging the governor to ensure Ukasha’s rescue and safety, conduct a comprehensive investigation of abuse and prosecutors for deterrence against others.
