A 19-year-old from Harare, Zimbabwe died in Suic in a deeply tragic situation after facing family and community rejection!
The teenager was found hanging from the roof beam of his parents’ home shortly after noon Wednesday, April 9. His death sent shockwaves through the overflow zone, raising urgent questions about mental health, youth support and family dynamics.
Tanyaradzwa recently had a 17-year-old girl impregnated in the community, according to relatives and neighbors. After the revelation, his father, Trymore Rimau, reportedly expelled him from his family residence with bad behavior. Relatives said the teenager sought asylum with a woman in the Solani area of Epworth, but he was also asked to leave the family.
Tanyaradzwa had nowhere to go, and his parents returned to their homes while working. His 11-year-old brother was taken to the store and returned to the discovery of the inanimate body and immediately notified their aunt.
Trymore Rimau admitted in a conversation with local tabloid H-Metro that he had expelled his son more than once. He said the pregnancy incident was just part of an unsettling pattern of behavior. “He didn’t go home, he lived on the street, and when he came back he caused problems, so I drove him away.”
Trymore also claimed that Tanyaradzwa has become increasingly disrespectful and has failed to take responsibility for his actions. However, family members say his behavior may be a symptom of deeper struggle. His aunt declined to be named, claiming the teenager had been using drugs, which may have cast a shadow on his judgment. “He was also frightened by the woman he was with, and he returned home, but his father drove him away again,” she said. “Then, he knew his parents went to work and committed suicide.”
The tragedy aroused reflection in the community. A local elder from the hybrid area also said anonymously, expressing grief over the situation. “This boy needs help. Yes, he made a mistake, but it’s painful for no one to get to him before it’s too late. In our society, people think it’s discipline to drive away children, but sometimes it makes them permanently break,” the elder said.
Police have investigated the suicide. Although the authorities have not issued an official statement, the incident has received serious attention. Due to her age, the identity and status of the 17-year-old girl has not been disclosed.
The case reinspires dialogue about youth mental health, family support structures, and the consequences of rejection in an already fragile life.
