A couple who broke the world record with the longest kiss has gone their own way.
Ekkachai Tiranarat from Thailand and his wife Laksana kept their lips locked for 58 hours and 35 minutes, breaking the Guinness World Record in 2013.
Witnesses Historically, Ekkachai revealed the couple split when speaking on the new BBC Sounds podcast, but said he still felt “proud” of the record.
According to Ekkachai, the strict rules of the game include maintaining kisses during toilet trips and having to pass water between each other’s mouths, which he claims makes the experience far from pleasant.
“I am very proud. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience,” he told host Megan Jones in the podcast.
“We spent a long time together and I wanted to remember the good memories, we did that together. ”
Ekkachai and Laksana won the two-time tournament titles first set a world record for the longest kiss of 2011, when they lasted for 46 hours and 24 minutes.
In 2013, the couple managed to maintain a 58-hour and 35-minute kiss.
“There are a lot of people there, about 14 couples are playing, and a lot of media are wandering around,” he said.
“I felt like I was about to faint, and some viewers handed me an inhaler to support me.”
Ekkachai recalls being “shocked” by the rules of the world record attempt, which requires that “the lips must always be touched” and “the couple must always be awake”.
In addition, the rules state that “the contestants must stand up during the attempt and cannot be co-supported by any AIDS” and that “adult diapers, diapers or incontinence pads” are prohibited.
While couples are allowed to use the toilet, they are asked to “keep kissing while doing so.”
Despite strict rules, Ekkachai and Laksana “think that the show must continue.”
However, in the final stage of the match ending on February 14, 2012, they noticed that their competitors raised their hands to show that they had enough.
Looking back on their victory, Ekkachai said: “How tired I am for happiness. I just want to rest and drink.
