The Kano High Court has sentenced a 22-year-old man, Sagir Rijiyar-Zaki, to D3ATH for his stepmother and sister’s M8rder hanging.
Lib reported that Rijiyar-Zaki ST3B brought his stepmother, Rabiatu Sagir, 25, to D3ATH with a screwdriver.
He then strangled his 8-year-old heir, Munawara, to death with a scarf.
Rijiyar-Zaki, who lives in Kutama Village, Gwarzo, local government area, Kano, was convicted.
In the verdict on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, Judge Amina Adamu-Aliyu ruled that the prosecution had proved that there was no doubt about its case.
Therefore, Adamu-Aliyu was therefore hanged and sentenced to D3ATH.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Mr. Lamido Abba-Sorndinki, told the court that the Commission of Criminals committed a quarterly crime in the Ungogo local government area of Kano State on January 7, 2023.
He said that at around 8 p.m., Rijiyar-Zaki stabbed his stepmother Rabiatu’s death with a screwdriver after a misunderstanding and strangled his sister Munawara with a scarf.
The prosecution presented two witnesses and a tender exhibition to prove their case against the defendant.
However, the criminal denied committing the crime.
According to the prosecutor, the crime violated Article 221 (a) of the Kano Penal Code, 1991.
Defense attorney Mr. Mubarak Abubakar presented the criminal with his own defense.
