Ogun’s police command said it has begun investigating the killing of Alfa Mustapha, a farmer, on his farm in the village of Ageri near Olodo, the Odeda local government area of the state.
The command spokesman Omolola Odutola said in a statement released by the 50-year-old farmer’s lifeless body was found with swordsmanship next to him. Odutola explained that the deceased went to his farm on Saturday morning but failed to return home.
“Worried about his whereabouts, Moshood Mustapha, the chief imam of the Agri Mosque, went to the farm at about 6:02 pm and he found the deceased dead,” she said.
Odutola said Mustapha reported the incident in the police suburbs of Olodo around 6:30 p.m. After receiving the report, outside police visited the scene, took photos and stored the body in ODEDA General Hospital for a physical examination.
She revealed that first, no signs of violence were found in the body due to heavy rain and poor visibility at night.
“However, an evaluation by a doctor later revealed that the deceased suffered bullet wounds from a small ball, indicating that he was shooting at close range. Police Commissioner CP Lanre Ogunlowo ordered an intensive investigation to identify and arrest the perpetrators.
She urged anyone with useful information to help the investigation stand up and assist the police and ensure that the commander does not unwaveringly bring the perpetrators to justice.
