A girl named Chidera was rescued after suffering multiple extreme bruises and burns on her body.
She reportedly suffered severe abuse at the hands of her stepmother on Faith Odunaike Street in Ipaha, Lagos State.
Neighbors who witnessed Chidera’s plight show that her mother was De@d, giving her stepmother mercy.
Recently, the stepmother allegedly locked her at home alone and traveled.
Neighbors worried about her safety had to climb into the house with a ladder and rescue Chidera, looking thin and had multiple bruises on her body.
The Lagos State Department of Family and Sexual Violence intervened after the Girl’s Story was published with the #RescueChidera hashtag.
With the help of the Ipaja police station, Chidera has been removed from her abused home.
Her stepmother is now arrested.
