Defense Minister Bello Matawalle dismissed the latest comment from the federal government Babachir Lawal about President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election prospects.
In a statement released in Abuja on Monday, Matawar described Raul’s statement as an attempt to create a division.

“Any hint to the contrary is a intentional attempt to sow discord and undermine our national unity,” Matawalle said.
Matawalle highlighted some of the achievements of the Tinubu government and noted that security forces have neutralized more than 8,000 terrorists and bandits, arrested 11,600 criminals and recovered more than 10,000 weapons in 2024 alone.
“In addition, the successful rescue of approximately 8,000 kidnapping victims demonstrates the government’s commitment to protecting all citizens,” he added.

In terms of economic development, Matawalle stressed that Tinubu’s government prioritized infrastructure projects that were crucial to the progress of the North, including road construction and improvements in transportation networks.
He also emphasized the government’s promotion of local government autonomy, which he said strengthened governance at the grassroots level.
Matawalle urged critics to objectively evaluate Tinubu’s scorecard rather than refute his efforts.
