
The Supreme Court revoked the appeals court’s ruling in Abuja, recognizing Julius Abure as Labor State President (LP).
In a unanimous judgment filed on Friday, April 4, a five-member Supreme Court ruled that the Court of Appeal lacked jurisdiction to declare the substantive nature of the case related to the party’s leaders.
The Supreme Court ruled that the leadership issue was the internal affairs of the party that lacked jurisdiction in the court. The court further allowed Senator Nenadi Usman and another senator to appeal, and believed that it was a meritorious.
It also began to dismiss the cross-appeal filed by Labour’s Abure Group’s unwilling grocery group.
In January 2025, the Court of Appeal Abuja ruled that Julius Abure remained the President of the Labor Party. A judgment made by Justice Hamma Barka, the Court of Appeal, ruled that its November 13, 2024 judgment recognized Abure as President and was not put on hold by any court.
Justice Baka made a declaration in his decision in two separate appeals filed by Esther Nenadi Usman and the Careers and the Independent National Election Commission (INEC).
The Court of Appeal held in two separate appeals that it did not delve into the issues of Labor leadership because these issues were not fair.
According to the Court of Appeal, anything done outside jurisdiction is invalid. Therefore, the decision of the Federal High Court made by Judge Emeka Nwite on October 8, 2024 is invalid because it has no jurisdiction.
