    Less than 5 years ago, Grammy Award winner Doechii went online to reveal that she had been fired and she had to start her life again.

    On February 2, 2025, the 26-year-old won her first Grammy Award for Best Rap Album for “The Crocodile Bites Not Healed.”

    In the repaved 2020 YouTube video, the rapper’s real name is Jaylah Ji’mya Hickmon, who shares that she was fired at work and hopes other ways to make her dream come true.

    “So I was fired today. Ask questions,” the Florida native said.

    She said she would go to the studio and record the record company and seek any opportunity.

    “Literally, I have nothing to lose. I have no place, no job, no children,” she continued.

    “Who cares? …I’ll let you know what’s going on.”

    Apparently, things went very well, as in 2021 she attracted the attention of Doug Entertainment President Anthony “Moosa” Tiffith Jr., becoming the brand’s first female rapper.

    Fast forward the 2025 Grammy Awards and 26-year-old Doechii won the Grammy Award for Best Rap Album, winning the “Crocodile Bites Never Heal.” The artist has also been nominated for Best New Artist and Best Rap Performance category.

    Doechii, who also performed at the ceremony, became the third woman after Lauryn Hill and Cardi B, winning the Best Rap Album category.

    At the Grammy ceremony in Los Angeles, taking the stage with my mother, it was an emotional doechii who delivered an inspiring speech that spread.

    “I put my heart and soul into this mixtape. I revealed my life. I went through a lot. I was committed to sobering and God told me that I would be rewarded and He would show me how great it could be. ,” she said in tears, thanking mom, record label and fans.

    “I know there are some black girls out there, there are a lot of black women out there looking at me right now, and I want to tell you: You can do it. Everything is possible. Everything is possible,” she said. “Don’t let anyone have any stereotypes about you, it tells you that you can’t be here, you’re too dark, or you’re not smart enough, or you’re too dramatic and loud. You’re exactly who you need to be, to be yours Position, and I am a testimony. Praise God!”
