- Governor Okpeholo has publicly claimed that the recent wave of kidnappings and insecurity is a politically motivated ploy to influence the outcome of the election. The governor claimed it was a deliberate “trick” that had previously been used against former President Goodluck Jonathan, claiming the perpetrators were motivated by political gain rather than pure crime.

Governor Okpeholo has intensified the public debate over insecurity in the country by making serious accusations, suggesting that the recent surge in kidnappings is not purely criminal but is being manipulated for political gain ahead of the elections.
The governor made the controversial statement while discussing security challenges facing the state. He claimed the orchestrated violence was part of a “ploy” by some to deliberately win the election.
Governor Okpeholo directly linked the current situation to Nigeria’s past electoral history, specifically mentioning the political environment surrounding former President Goodluck Jonathan.
“They beat people because someone wanted to win an election and that was unfair. They did it to Goodluck Jonathan and they succeeded but we already know their tricks,” the governor said.
While the governor did not specify the group or individual responsible for what he called a “ruse,” his comments fueled long-standing public speculation that Nigeria’s security crises are often politicized to destabilize rival governments or suppress voter turnout in key areas.
In other news… Afrobeat artist Shallipopi has responded following critic Daniel Regha’s review of the singer’s latest album Auracle.
According to Naija News, Regha criticized the album for lacking lyrical development, creativity and depth. While he noted that some of the beats were catchy, he felt that the overall quality of the tracks declined as the album progressed.
Regha also said that Auracle might have worked better if it had been released as a shorter EP. Although his overall rating was low, he praised the flow of the song Pull Up, a collaboration with Pa Salieu.
He wrote: “Shallipopi Can’t be considered a true artist, just a guy with access to the studio; but he’s credited with putting his country on the map. His latest album, Auracle, is painful to listen to, with no lyrical evolution, substance, or creativity in every song except for a few good beats. It’s getting worse than the previous one. He should have chosen four or five songs and called it an EP, but no one’s IQ is going to improve because of people’s taste in music today, and it can’t be a cultural reset.
Having said that, one of the songs, “Pull Up,” has a great flow (lyrics aside) and Pa Salieu brings the song to life. This is 1/10. No offense intended. “
Shalipipi responded: “SYBAU, you know nothing about music.”
