
The Independent National Election Commission INEC has debunked social media reports that its chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, was fired by President Bola Tinubu.
Viral information about WhatsApp shows that Mahmood has been fired.

But in a chat with Vanguard, Chief Press Secretary CPS and INEC Chairman Rotimi Oyekanmi simply said: “Please, ignore it. This is not true.”
Yakubu will end his second term during his tenure and is expected to withdraw from the system by the end of the year. The process of appointing INEC presidents is to nominate candidates for president and forward their details to the DSS for analysis by the Ministry of Services.
