Three suspects arrested for kidnapping naval officers and other victims in Abuja

Three suspects are linked to the kidnapping of a Nigerian Navy lieutenant in Abuja, the federal capital region.

Akor kidnapped with two civilians on March 21 after armed attackers attacked the gates of Maman Vatsa estate, blocked Mpape Road and opened fire on mobile vehicles.

The kidnapper then contacted his family and asked the naval officers to be naval officers, each of which was a civilian N200m.

However, a joint security operation involving the Federal Capital Regional Police Command and the military rescued the victims.

The suspect was arrested by agents from the Navy in a community bordering Masaka, near Nasarawa.

Two of the arrested men were directly involved in the kidnapping, while the third was identified as accomplice.

When the suspect was handed over to police on Wednesday, April 16, Navy Commander Oluseyi Oladipo said the arrests were arrested through effective cooperation among security agencies in the FCT.

“The suspects have since admitted they were involved in kidnapping, rustling and other criminal activities.”

“The suspects and related exhibitions have therefore been handed over to the Nigerian Police Force (FCT Command) for further investigation and prosecution.”

Despite the success, Oladipo admits that Abuja continues to face security challenges including kidnapping, “one chance” kidnapping and vehicle theft.

He reiterated the Navy’s commitment to Deputy Chief of Navy Chief of Staff Emmanuel Ikechukukwu Ogalla by contributing to national security at the national level.

“We also deeply appreciate the honorary minister of FCT Nyesom Wike for his leadership in enhancing the security of FCT.

“The base will continue to work with other security agencies to ensure FCT security,” Oladipo added.
