    • President Bola Ahmed Tinubu revealed that he had almost given up reading the newspaper due to overwhelming criticism and economic challenges.

    • Tinubu claims his government’s tough economic decisions are achieving positive results, noting: “Nigeria is a success, the economy is turning around, it bent down.”

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu shared his struggle early in his presidency, acknowledging the weight of criticism and economic challenges almost made him stop reading the newspaper.

“When we started it was challenging, and I almost escaped reading or reading newspapers. I was discouraged, but consistently made decisions, thinking that the ability of leaders to make decisions at the right time is a sign of leadership.”

Despite initial struggles, Tinubu assured that his government’s economic decisions are now fruitful.

He said confidently: “Nigeria is a success, the economy is turning, it bent down.”

However, Akinwumi Adesina, president of the African Development Bank, provides a contrasting perspective.

Speaking at the 20th anniversary dinner at Chapel Hill Denham in Lagos, Adesina lamented the decline in Nigeria’s per capita GDP, attributed to the inconsistent economic plans and poor implementation of the continuous government.

Adsina noted: “Nigerians today are poorer than their independence in 1960.”
