President Bola Tinubu met with Rivers Governor Siminalayi Fubara in London as part of his efforts to resolve the lingering political crisis in the state, Africa Report Confirmed.
The closed meeting took place last week after Tinubu’s visit to Paris and was reportedly initiated by Fubara. The embattled governor is said to be seeking to return to his office after declaring a state of emergency in River State.
A presidential adviser who spoke anonymously said Fobara promised to make “some compromises” during the negotiations. “The negotiations are underway, but from all signs, his suspension will be cancelled by the six-month deadline,” the source said.
Another aide revealed that Fubara is considering switching to all Progressive Conferences (APCs) to align with Tinubu and gain political protection. “If Fubara joins the APC, it means the president has a much higher chance of winning River State,” the aide added.

A clear absence at the London meeting was former governor and current FCT minister Nyesom Wike, who was said to be upset by the evolving events.
Reconciliation meetings involving Tinubu, Fubara, Wike and Rivers state legislators are reportedly looking for a lasting solution.
