Nollywood actor, Tony Akposheri recently shared a touching video on his Instagram page that touched the hearts of his fans and movie lovers.
In the video, Akposheri visits veteran actor Rev. Davis Ofor, popularly known as Clarus in NTA’s iconic New Masquerade. He reflected on the inevitability of aging, stressing that the effects of youth last forever, while wishing his beloved actor a Happy New Year.
The video shows Akposiri assisting Clarus down the stairs of his home, followed by a warm hug and friendly conversation. Despite his age and the need for walking support, Clarus looks healthy and still sports the trademark smile that once lit up Nigerian television screens.
Fans were deeply moved by Akposheli’s actions and praised him for remembering the veteran. Many also recall the classic sitcom that brought laughter to Nigerian households in the 1980s and 1990s. They fondly recall watching “The Masquerade” with their families and some of the unforgettable actors and actresses from the series.
“Masquerade” was written by James Iroha, who also played the character of Giringory, and became one of Nigeria’s longest-running television shows. The show showcased beloved characters like Ramota, Jegede Shokoya, Giringory and more, cementing its place in the history of Nigerian entertainment.
Akposheri’s act of kindness echoes the efforts of other Nollywood stars such as Kunle Afoud, who is known for supporting older actors through visits and financial assistance to improve their well-being.
