Two members of Nigeria’s alert organization were crushed to D3ATH by an articulated vehicle in Benin, Edo Prefecture.
The accident occurred in front of the University of Benin in the early hours of Tuesday, April 29, 2025
One of the dead was identified as Mustafa through his ID card, while the other completely crushed his head.
The deceased was said to have been ridden by a motorcycle when they were hit by a trailer that was driven away after the accident.
A witness, a hawker gathered at the scene of the incident, and he said the accident happened in a flash.
“The accident happened suddenly. The trailer was heading to Lagos and before we realized what had happened, the men were lying on the road without any anger and had a head crushed injury.”
“No one can say whether the alert person is trying to stop the trailer when the accident occurs. It’s so sad that these people have to die in this way.”
Moses Yamu, spokesman for the state police commander, confirmed the incident and said efforts were being made to obtain more information from departmental police in the area.
“The accident did happen, and these people died in the process. However, I am waiting for more information on the DPO with formal responsibilities in the region,” PPRO said.
The victim’s remains were stored in the morgue at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH).
