
Former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, former media aide to Doyin Okupe was D! ed.
He lived in a hospital on Victoria Island, Lagos, on Friday, March 7. He is 72 years old.
According to family sources, Dr. Okupe suffered serious illness within the weeks before his death. He suffered from cancer relief, sadly losing the fight this morning.
Born on March 22, 1952 in Iperu, Ogun State, Nigeria, the late Doyin Okupe is the son of the chief Matthew Adekoya Okupe, a banker at Agbonmagbe Bank. He has attended St. Jude’s School in Ebute Metta, Igbobi College in Yaba, Lagos and Ibadan University in Ibadan, Oyo State.
On the arrival of the current Fourth Republic of Nigeria, Okupe was appointed Special Assistant to Media and Propaganda for President Olusegun Obasanjo. Later, in 2002, he was one of the governors in the Ogun State People’s Democratic Party (PDP) primary election and was a major contender along with Gbenga Daniel. In 2012, President Goodluck Jonathan appointed Okupe as Senior Special Assistant for Public Affairs.
He also served as a spokesperson for the presidential election of Peter Obi.
His wife and children survived.
