A fully loaded truck (GGE 624 YJ) lost control of the Peng Movie Bridge and fell on two commercial Volkswagens parked below.
The accident occurred earlier today on April 26, along the Agege on the old Abeokuta Road.
Thankfully, the bus is empty.
According to the Lagos State Transportation Authority (Lastma), truck drivers suffered severe cracks in their hands. He was rescued by Lastma officials and handed over to Elere police, and was then taken to Ile-Epo General Hospital for emergency treatment.
Lastma operators blocked the scene, diverted traffic, and worked with the Lasema response unit to remove wreckage to restore normal traffic flow.
Lastma General Manager Mr Olalekan Bakare-Oki urged motorists, especially truckers, to exercise caution during the rainy season. He stressed the importance of observing road safety rules and following newly installed speed limiting equipment to prevent future accidents.
He also hopes that the injured driver will recover quickly.
