U.S. President Donald Trump said on Tuesday, March 4 that he would cut funds for U.S.-owned schools that allow “illegal protests.”
“All federal funds will cease any university, school or university that allows illegal protests,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social Platform.
“There will be imprisoned/or permanently sent back to the country they come to. American students will be permanently expelled, or it depends on the crime. No masks!” he added.

Trump has repeatedly threatened to subvert the U.S. education system, including by returning to the entire Department of Education and returning all control of the curriculum to various states.
Republicans have previously threatened to cut funding from American universities, schools and universities about gender and race teaching if they allow trans athletes to play on women’s sports teams, or they insist on enforcing the Covid-19 vaccine requirement.
His latest statement came on U.S. campuses last year due to protests against Israel’s war in Gaza, which sparked anti-Semitism accusations.
On Monday, the U.S. government said it was considering a contract with Columbia University in New York for more than $50 million due to allegations that it failed to protect Jewish students.
