
Two minors, 11-year-old Imaran Hassan and 10-year-old Nura Jibrin, reportedly involved students of Annur Islam Model School in Chaichainiya, and some young people near Zuma Bread Bakery in Suleja, Niger state, suffered bullet injuries.
The conflict that occurred Thursday night was reportedly arose from a dispute over the girl.
“After Tarawih’s prayer, the dispute initially turned into a serious fight around 9:30 p.m.,” said a source who asked to be anonymous.
Sources added that SS3 student Umar Idris brought colleagues to the area, armed weapons, and engaged in violent confrontation.
During the conflict, Hassan and Jibrin were hit by bullets in their thighs, although the footage was reportedly from unknown directions.
Police and vigilance later mobilized to restore order and evacuate injured minors to Suleja General Hospital, who are currently receiving treatment.
“Six suspects have been arrested for the attack, while police and school officials have closely arrested other students involved,” the source added.
Niger State Police Public Relations Officer Sp wasiu Abiodun confirmed the incident that pointed to 11 suspects arrested along Chaichainiya on Kaduna Road.
“At around 11 p.m. on June 3, 2025, it was reported that young people and some middle school students were fighting a lover issue in the Chaichainiya area of Kaduna Road with a Umar Idris in the same area,” PPRO said.
“It was reported that in the incident, gunfire was heard from different directions, hitting two victims. One Nura and Imrana were 10 and 11 years respectively,”
Abiodun further revealed that 11 suspects, including Umar Idris, were arrested during the secret police operation and are under investigation.
He added that the findings showed that an official from the sister security agency was in charge of the shooting, which injured two minors.
“At the same time, the investigation is being strengthened to take further necessary actions and will further develop into openness.”
