    Two suspicious ritualists arrested for digging out bodies in Oyo's cemetery

    The Oyo State Police Department has destroyed a group that specializes in excavating buried bodies and selling their body parts for ritual purposes in Oyo State, Ibadan.

    Police said in a statement Tuesday, March 18, 2025 that around 0,230 hours, detectives from the Iyaganku subdivision police headquarters had prompted a search in a Ridwan Bello residence, the residence of 35yrs, also known as Asalailu, also known as Asalailu, is located in the Muslim area of ​​Ibadan.

    “During the search, a female torso and other dismembered human remains, including cut limbs and dry bones, were stored in bags and paint buckets were recycled. In confession, Bello claimed that the body had been dug out from a cemetery in Awa-Ijebu, a local government area in northern Ijebu, Ogun State, and admitted to selling body parts to ritualists. Later, he took the detective to the cemetery, where his claims were confirmed. ”

    The statement added that the suspect’s further confession led to the arrest of his accomplice, whose accomplice, who had arrested him for 70 years for the purpose of the ceremony, and he purchased human parts from the suspect. Adelake also admitted that he was involved in the illegal trade of the human body.

    The case has been transferred to a detailed investigation of homicide in the state’s criminal investigation department as efforts are being strengthened to identify and arrest all those involved.

    The headquarters called on cemetery managers to be vigilant in light of the recent excavation of corpses by ritualists. In addition, transporters are advised to carefully check the contents of their passenger loads to avoid unintentionally promoting illegal activities.
