
On Tuesday, the Ekiti State High Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti sentenced two teachers to 44 years of R3 teenagers.
Defendants Ajibola Gbenga (43 years old) and Olaofe Ayodele (52) were arraigned in front of Justice Adeniyi Familoni in March 2022, allegations involving R3PE and abuse of posts.
The charge reads: “Defendant, sometime in November 2019, on Ado Ekiti within the jurisdiction of this honorary court, R3PE was a 17-year-old girl. In addition, the second defendant in November 2019 Sometime R3PE a 15-year-old girl was caused, contrary to Article 31(2) of the correct law of children. C7, Ekiti State’s Law, 2012.”
The allegation further reads: “The defendant did abuse his office as a civil servant sometime in November 2019, contrary to Article 104 of the Criminal Law Act, CAP. C16, the law of Ekiti State 2012.”
One victim said in court testimony: “Mr. Ajibola is my computer teacher and he always disturbs me during class. On this fateful day, he told me to go to Mufti and he gave it to me I went to wait for him to be in front of the filling station along the bank road. Later he came there with Mr. Olaf. To prove his case, Prosecutor Kunle-Shina Adeyemi called the tender statements of four witnesses and defendants, medical reports, and other reports from the investigative team as an exhibition.
The defendants defended themselves through attorney Lawrence Fasanmi and summoned six witnesses. They deny all charges against them, calling them political and tender exhibitions to support their innocence.
The family judge said in his judgment: “The defendants laughed at their thoughts and mastered the voice of their conscience when they recklessly gave up using their victims.
“They should impose serious criminal sanctions on their misconduct in order to warn others who may want to follow.
“Ajibola Gbenga was therefore sentenced to two decades for the first count, without a fine, Olaofe Ayodele was sentenced to twenty years for twenty years, twenty years without a fine, while two defendants were sentenced to two years for the prison, and both The name was sentenced to two years in prison.
