Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) arrested two members of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) located in the Shendam Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The suspects, Abdulkadir Dalhatu and Ubaidu Hassan, were arrested during a coordinated operation on April 11, 2025.
Major General Samson Nantip, media information officer Operation Safe Haven, revealed this in a statement Saturday, April 12, saying that the ISWAP commander asked the suspect to use the tailor’s cover to facilitate the establishment of an ISWAP base in the plateau and Bauchi states.
“In the ongoing operation Lafiyan Jama’a, Operation Haven (OPSH) arrested two members of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) in the ongoing operation.”
“In the coordinated operation on April 11, 2025, troops from the Far-Free Operations Base (FOB) destroyed the ISWAP cell located around the Shendam Local Government Area (LGA) in the Plateau State.
“In Operation Sting, two suspicious ISWAP members were identified as 25-year-old Abdulkadir Dalhatu, while 25-year-old Ubaidu Hassan was arrested by a tailor.
“Preliminary investigations show that the arrested suspect was mandatory by the ISWAP commander to use tailor cover to facilitate the establishment of an ISWAP base in the plateau and Bauchi state. The suspect is detaining further action.
“In addition, on April 11, 2025, OPSH troops followed up at a wanted criminal hiding place in Mazat Village, Barkin Ladi Lga, Plateau State.
“During the operation, the suspect fled before the troops arrived at the scene. However, the troops searched the hiding place and recovered an AK-47 rifle, as well as an AK-47 magazine buried in the building. The recovered weapons are being detained, while efforts are being made to seize fugitive criminals and recover other weapons.
“Similarly, on April 12, 2025, the troops of OPSH in District 2 took a reliable intelligence operation to ambush the bandits along the road along the Pinau-bangalala in the Plateau State. During the operation, the troops made contact and neutralized one robber, while others were likely to be injured by guns.
“Operation Safe Haven effectively responded to any security threats to civilians within the joint operation area. We therefore call for more reliable information to help the troops lash out at martial arts criminals.”
